2026 Kid's Fishing Derby WinnersThe Gallia County Conservation Club and Gallia County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to thank everyone who came out Saturday, May 16th, 2026 for the Kid's Fishing Derby at the Land Lab Pond on the Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed putting it on for the youth of Gallia County! We almost beat the RAIN!!
We had 96 kids registered and they CAUGHT a whooping 476 fish!! With family and friends, we had over 200 in attendance. To say it was a HUGE SUCCESS is truly an understatement! Thank you needs to be given to Outdoorsmen's Cave - Julie and Bobby for providing the awesome live bait station and gift cards to all our winners, Morgan Family for prize donations, the Bradley Family for the sticker and bobber donations, Gallia Shooting Aces 4-H Club for preparing and serving lunch, and community members Wildlife Officer Levi Boggs, Crockett Roush, and Robbie Bradley for being the official judges for our derby! We thank the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio Division of Wildlife for making these events possible through grants from the Wildlife & Sport Fish Restoration program. The Gallia County Conservation Club and Gallia County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to thank everyone who came out this past Saturday for the "MUDDY" Kid's Fishing Derby at the Land Lab Pond at the Gallia County Jr Fairgrounds! We had 82 kids registered, and with family, we had over 170 in attendance. These kiddos caught over 220 fish!!! To say it was a HUGE SUCCESS is truly an understatement! The Gallia County Conservation Club and Gallia County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to thank everyone who came out this past Saturday for the Kid's Fishing Derby at the Land Lab Pond at the Gallia County Jr Fairgrounds!
We had 74 kids registered, and with family, we had over 130 in attendance. To say it was a success is truly an understatement! Special Thanks to Wildlife Officer Tyler Fields and Wildlife Officer Cole Tilton for helping with the event, not only did they help keep score but they also were able to spread a little wildlife education to the kids. Shout Out and Thank You to Outdoorsmen's Cave for providing bait. They also set up a station for everyone to check out the different baits available at their store. Julie Simmons of Outdoorsmen's Cave also sponsored a Fish ID Contest. Congratulation Grant Lanier for winning that contest!!Casting Contest was fun too as the youth practiced their hand at casting in the targets!
